SMUDGE

I have had heaps of different green smoothies in the last little while! And when I say 'heaps', I mean 'HEAPS'! But I wanted to share this one with you as it's my current favourite!! I based it off one of the Swiish recipes, but I changed it a little for ingredients I had available at the time. Once I had my first sip though, I was sold! It's my new Go-To Green Smoothie. It's creamy, it's fresh, and it's full of good foods!!

If you have the ingredients handy, give it a try! You won't regret it. And you if you don't have all the ingredients, then it's time to pop them on your shopping list!

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of baby spinach
- 1/2 an avocado (peeled and cored)
- 1/4 cup of broccoli
- 1 frozen banana
- Large handful of (fresh) mint leaves
- 3 raw almonds
- 1 teaspoon of stevia, to taste

(Serves 1)

Blend until smooth and enjoy!! Comment below if you've given it a try, and are as crazy about it as I am! Do you have any favourite smoothie recipes? Feel free to share them with me, or tag me on Instagram : @mrsdavisxo

Oh Dear. My sister just introduced me to this unbelievably delicious raw chocolate recipe! Being healthy has never been so easy.

I've always been huge on chocolate. I grew up around it. In fact, one of my sister's is pretty much a committed chocoholic! - Just kidding. But seriously, it's almost true. And I don't blame her, I actually take after her. It's super delicious! If you're anything like me, then you've probably had times where you've felt really fat.. and so you 'comfort eat' half a block of chocolate to make yourself feel better. What a stupid spiral that is!! Let me tell you, it's a very temporary feel good! So then you go and eat the other half of the block to make yourself feel better for downing the first half! ..And it just keeps going.

WELL! No more feeling guilty for eating chocolate! This is super healthy and only takes about 5 minutes to make and 5 minutes to freeze. Then approximately 5 minutes to devour.

You can put whatever toppings on you like! So if you're not feeling like nuts, feel free to get creative.

INGREDIENTS

Chocolate:
- 2 heaped tablespoons of Raw Cacao (You can use 100% Cocoa instead, totally healthy as long as theres no added nasties, but won't be 'raw')
- 2 heaped tablespoons of Coconut Oil
- 2 heaped teaspoons of natural honey (You can use maple syrup instead, but again, won't be 'raw')
- 4 twists of Himalayan Pink Rock Salt

Toppings:
- Whatever you like! I did a variety to give you ideas, but you can do pretty much anything that's going to make your taste buds come alive.

Turn your stove on low. Mix the 'chocolate' ingredients together in a pot over the stove. I do this because in the cooler weather, coconut oil is hard. However, if your coconut oil is runny, you can just mix the ingredients in a bowl.
Once nicely combined and smooth, test taste! If you think it needs sweetening a little, you can add a dash more maple syrup!

Line a tray with baking paper, and pour chocolate mixture on top. Tip the sides of the tray to make the chocolate run towards the sides a little, however, try not to thin it out too much.
Now dress it up! Sprinkle on your favourite toppings! You can do the whole tray the same, or divide it up. As examples, I did Almond & Goji Berries, Homemade Nut Butter and Cashews.
Pop it in the freezer for at least 5 minutes - the longer the better. Then once it's set, pull it out and break it up into chunks and serve!
And that's literally it!! How amazing is that?! Totally healthy chocolate, and you can have as much of it as you want without feeling guilty!

An important tip though - When it's left out of the freezer, it will start to melt. So remember to keep it in the freezer unless you're eating it!

Enjoy, and make it over and over again. Let me know what sort you make, I'm always up for new ideas!

Have a beautiful day,

In process of #takingbackwhatsmine and getting my pre-baby body back, I am having Wednesday Weigh days! This is half because Isla was born on a Wednesday, and half because 'Wednesday' and 'Weigh' both start with the letter 'W'. It's a win-win! (Which also starts with 'W'!)

Anyway. I know weight fluctuates, and you can't be too concerned with what you see on the scales, as you have to account for muscle gain, water, etc. But todays weigh day was a success, so I wanted to celebrate with a fruit smoothie!

I usually try to steer away from heaps of fruit in a smoothie, because even though it's healthy, there is whole load of sugar in them. Much better to do veggies (green) smoothies, with a dash of fruit. However, fruit smoothies are still totally healthy, and an amazing treat!!

This one had a lot of frozen ingredients and not much liquid, and so it turned into more of an Ice-Cream!! Which was super delicious, and for the most part, had to be eaten with a spoon. I shall call them Froozies.

INDGREDIENTS
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2 a pear
1 cup of almond milk
1/3 cup of almonds
1/3 cup of traditional oats
1 cup ice

Tip : The more frozen ingredients you add, the more Ice-Creamy it will be.
Enjoy!! And let me know what you put in yours!

I woke up this morning craving a really good green smoothie!

If you haven't tried a green smoothie before, you are missing out! Not only are they delicious, but they are SO healthy for you. They are a way to kick start your day off fresh, giving your body a giant load of veggies and a little bit of fruit! In that one smoothie, is a whole days worth of good food and nutrients, making you feel great all day. Smoothies are filling, but you always feel really light and energised after them. You can pack them full of vegetables that you normally wouldn't eat a lot of, and somehow, they always manage to taste pretty amazing!

There is a time and a place for 'juices'. They are delicious, and really healthy as well!! But as a meal replacement, I find smoothies better. Smoothies are 'whole foods', just blended up together to taste delicious. Really quick and easy, and perfect if you've got things to do, or are running out the door. Just chuck things in, blend, pour and you're on your way with a ridiculously healthy meal.

When you're making up your own smoothies, try and pair fruits and vegetables together that you think will complement each other. Also try to have more vegetables in your smoothie than you do fruit. Be a little sneaky and throw in something like broccoli or celery! You're body will love you for it, and you won't even be able to taste it.

This was my smoothie this morning. Feel free to give it a go! Or switch out the ingredients for something similar. OR, make up your own completely!

INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup of kale
- 1 cup of broccoli
- 1 large stick of celery
- 1/2 an avocado
- 1 apple
- 1 frozen banana
- 3 dates
- 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
- 1/4 cups of pepita seeds
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of ice

Have a beautiful day,

If you know me at all, then you probably know that I'm addicted to Peanut Butter & Chocolate shakes. I could drink them for breakfast, lunch & dinner. I'm not even kidding.

When I made the decision to be more healthy, my heart broke a little thinking that meant goodbye forever to rivers of peanut butter and chocolately goodness - but it was for the greater good, so I was prepared to do it. After realising that I could substitute ingredients for healthy ones though, that disappointment has gone forever!! I found a recipe online and changed it a little to work for me. Then using my Optimum blender, I created Peanut Butter and Banana Ice Cream, with Peanut and Chocolate Sauce to drizzle on top!! It's thick and creamy, and rich in flavour, and totally healthy! Now whenever I'm craving something sweet, I can indulge and not even feel bad about it! How amazing it that?!

On a side note - I'm totally loving my Optimum blender! I know I've mentioned this a few times, but I highly recommend one. I can't stop using it. In prep for this Ice Cream, I whipped up my own healthy Peanut Butter, and Almond Milk yesterday. It's completely raw, completely healthy, completely delicious. You will need a high speed blender or food processor of some sort to make this Ice-Cream.

With no further ado, let's get to it!

INGREDIENTS

Ice-Cream:
3 medium sized frozen Bananas
1/4 cup of Almond Milk
1 1/2 tablespoons of Natural Peanut Butter
Pinch of Himalayan Pink Rock Salt

Chocolate option - If you want to make the Ice-Cream Chocolatey too, you can add 1 tablespoon of Raw Cacao to the mixture. (You can use Cocoa instead, totally healthy as long as it's one with no added sugar or nasties. It just won't be 'raw'.)

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Sauce:
1 tablespoon of Natural Peanut Butter
1 tablespoon of Almond Milk
1 teaspoon of Maple Syrup
1 teaspoon of Raw Cacao (again, you can use Cocoa instead)

Make the sauce first. It's easy peasy! Mix all four ingredients together in a small bowl.
That's it for the sauce! ..I know right!
Now for the Ice-Cream. Blend your 3 Bananas together with the salt. When you first go to blend it, you'll think it's not going to blend together nicely, but then it quickly turns into this silky, creamy banana Ice Cream before your eyes!
Then add the Peanut Butter and Almond Milk. If you're going to make it chocolatey, add your Cacao/Cocoa now.
Once nicely blended, scoop out the Ice-Cream into your favourite bowl or jar, and pour the sauce on top! You can add some crushed peanuts on top if you like, or other toppings. Have fun with it!
Devour immediately - it's too delicious not too! Can't wait to try other flavours and different ways of doing it. So stay tuned for more recipes!

If you've seen some of my recent Instagram photos, you'll know that I have a new obsession!
Raw food, healthy food and healthy smoothies!

After a bit of a crazy birth with Isla almost 5 months ago (wow, that went quick!), exercise hasn't really been an option for me. So I've found it a little difficult to get back into shape, and with that, comes the frustration with not being able to fit into a lot of my clothes, and not feeling good in anything that does manage to fit. I know that I 'just had a baby', and I could probably run with that excuse for while, but I've just come to the point where I've had enough. I remember a few years ago I lived with my sister, and we had lots of amazing green smoothies, jammed packed with goodness! We ate pretty well, and I had so much energy, I could run 10km a day with hardly breaking a sweat, and I was in the best shape of my life! Looking back at photos, I can hardly believe it. I felt SO good. I want need to feel that way again!

But nothings going to change without making some immediate lifestyle changes.

We put so much junk into our bodies. Things that are everyday normalities now like coffee, white bread, hot chips, not to mention chocolate! These things, and so many more do absolutely nothing for your body or your health. There is not a lot that you have 100% control over in life, but what you put into your body? That, you do.

Recently, I've been totally inspired (that's an understatement) with the creativity that goes into making raw food, healthy food, and smoothies! Being healthy doesn't mean you have miss out on yummy things! In fact, it means you can eat more of them, and guilt free too! You can easily substitute some of your unhealthy weaknesses (hello peanut butter & chocolate milkshakes) for a totally healthy alternative, that actually tastes amazing. And the best part? You can pretty much eat as much as you want of it! My sister made me some raw chocolate with Almonds and Goji Berries sprinkled on top yesterday, and I'm telling you this - giving up store bought chocolate is a total breeze!

Now, I'm all for treating your self here and there, and this is in no way, shape or form a 'diet'! Because we all know diets never work. But it's a general lifestyle change. A decision to put better foods into my body, and feeling good about doing it. It can all be summed up in about 3 reasons for me. (1) I'm doing it for me, and to feel good and comfortable about myself again. (2) I'm doing it to feel sexy again for my husband. (3) I'm doing it so that I can be the best, active Mum that I can be to Isla, and to be a good role model to her. It's not about depriving myself or being miserable because I'm trying to eat 'healthy'. It's all about doing it in a fun and creative way that makes me actually want to cook or blend, and create food and drinks that are 100% good for you AND taste delicious at the same time. Whoever thought that was possible?!

Yep. Totally inspired.

If you've been wanting to get into some raw foods, healthy foods or smoothies for a while, but it just never happens, I really encourage to come along this crazy ride with me and dive into a world of colour! Start making it happen today. It's not strictly 'raw' but it's a huge step in that direction compared to the crap I usually end up eating! I'll be popping up recipes of some of the successful things that I've made, and I'd love to see what you create too! To help me make some of the amazing foods/drinks that I've got planned, I've got an Optimum on it's way as we speak. It was recommended to me by my sister, and I've seen it in action! I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I only started all of this less than a week ago, but I am already seeing results! Which is totally encouraging. This is it. And I couldn't be more excited! I'm getting my body back. I'm #takingbackwhatsmine
