SMUDGE

What a beautiful weekend we had! The photos don't even do it justice.
Joe took Friday off work so we could enjoy a couple days together along with his sister, Cassie, brother in law, Sean, and one of his best mates, Paul. We drove less than two hours north to one of the most beautiful coastal places that I've ever been, Lancelin.

On our first day, we launched our family speed boat into the bright blue beach water, and got out the wake boards. Despite what you've heard about Aussie waters, there was not a shark in sight.
On our second day in Lancelin, we cranked up some tunes and took Paul's roofless jeep out over the sand dunes. Sand dunes are basically Perth's version of snow, complete with people boarding down them! Then we followed a track out to a reasonably isolated beach, and cruised up the coast for a couple minutes until we found the perfect spot!
And by perfect, I mean perfect. Completely flawless and gorgeous!

The sun was very warm and the sand was equally tingly. I dipped my toes into the ocean to feel the cool crystal clear water, and as we floated and swam about I can't even describe how lovely it felt when the soft, velvety waves brushed passed us.

I'm not one to go swimming at the beach very often, but with water so shallow and clear, I couldn't resist! Australia really does have some of the most beautiful beaches. I felt like we were on holiday in Bora Bora, or some distant island far away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
If you haven't experienced Lancelin, or simply a Perth summer before, be sure to pop it on your bucket list and come say hello!

A few days ago, I was fabric shopping for a customers quilt.
I pulled piles of fabric off shelves, dug under hidden rolls of gorgeous patterns, climbed up a tower of thread and slid down a giant bobbin. I fought off an angry dragon who was trying to steal my material, and then I swam through a sea of zippers and found myself laying in a puddle of sequins.

Or at least that's how I remember it. Sometimes fabric shopping pulls me into an entirely new and magical place. It's full of excitement and possibilities!

The reality is, I usually go in for one simple thing, but I end up getting lost in inspiration and find myself coming out with at least eleven items.

For example, I was at the checkout when I saw this adorable fabric. As soon as my eyes landed on it, I knew I had to have it. And what better way to welcome it into our home than to use it for a cushion cover and sit it on our new swinging egg chair!
I am so happy with how it looks! It matches perfectly. There is something so special about making particular items for your house. It gives it such a personal and homey touch. This cushion makes me smile every time I look over at it.

If you'd like to give your own cushion cover a go, please do!! I just used the same method as I did with this one. There is no complicated sewing involved, and it took me no more than 20 minutes! So have fun and DIY your house up a little, you wont regret it!

I am loving summery nails. And what's more summery than Watermelon?! These juicy nails were a lot of fun to paint! If you'd like to give it a go follow the pictures below.

Colours
Red
White
Green
Black

I used a thin brush for both the white and the black nail polishes, because they needed to be relatively fine. For the green, make sure you paint it on top of the white so that it stays light green. For my first attempt, I just painted it on top of the red and it turned out much too dark.

Remember to finish it off with a clear top coat!

Learn from my mistakes!! But most importantly, have fun.
I wonder what other fruits would be fun to try! Thoughts?

It's a new year, and with that comes a new work diary cover!
I finally got around to finishing the grey and white one that I started a little while ago, but then I whipped up the pink one in about 20 minutes! So now I have 2 very different diary covers, that I love equally.

Help me decide which one to use!?
Which one is your favourite?
Follow this easy 'step by step' tutorial to create your own!
